General Info
The first stage in the Hockey Alberta Inline Team Alberta Program is the Alberta Summer Games, a program that takes place every two years. All of Alberta’s athletes 12-14 years of age, regardless of their playing experience, are eligible to attend the selection and devlopement camp held in their zone. There are 8 Alberta Games Zones, the Zone you are in is based on your residency, each zone will hold a camp. The camp is designed to improve the skills of all players in attendance and is sure to be a fun activity for all participants regardless of skill level.
From the camps one team from each Zone is formed. Zone teams will then hold a team-training weekend prior to the competition. At the competition teams play in a three game round robin, followed by medal games. Activities around the Games include an Opening Ceremonies, Closing Ceremonies, and unique cultural activities. The last Alberta Summer Games was held in Medicine Hat in 2008. Quite a memorable experience for any youth!
The next Alberta Summer Games will be held in 2 shifts, running July 19-22 and July 22-25 2010 in Peace River, with Inline Hockey running during the first shift July 19-22. Ages eligible for Inline in 2010 are birth years 1995, 1996, and 1997.
